Brief

As the number of elderly individuals living alone in China continues to rise, so does their vulnerability to hidden security issues, compounded by physical challenges such as memory impairment. This underscores the critical need for designs tailored to the needs of the elderly. I am committed to addressing these concerns by developing a series of kitchen systems specifically designed for individuals over 60 who live alone, aimed at mitigating safety risks. With a focus on minimizing the learning curve and prioritizing security, I advocate for a kitchen service that emphasizes user-friendly design elements, ensuring a safer and more accessible experience for older adults

Problem

Based on the survey findings, it's evident that the majority of conventional kitchen equipment and procedures are ill-suited for the physiological needs of seniors. This discrepancy is particularly pronounced for elderly individuals grappling with cognitive impairments like Alzheimer's disease, who may struggle to promptly seek assistance in times of peril, thereby heightening safety risks for those living independently

Design Objectives

1. Minimize the learning curve for elderly users when utilizing kitchen facilities
2. Prioritize the safety of elderly individuals to minimize the likelihood of accidents

User Scenario

User Scenario

Currently, this set of secure smart kitchen systems is only available to individuals with above-average income levels. Because it involves many futuristic technological designs, I am also considering how to create a more affordable safe kitchen service for Alzheimer's patients living alone, which can be accessible to a broader audience
